Rend Collective apply their unique mix to a Christmas classic:
There a quite a few Christmas releases this year that you might be interested in. Worship Leader magazine has quite a good run-down of what’s on offer.
This coming Monday we will be joining together with people from across Preston at the Deepdale Football Stadium for Silent Night Carols. This event has been inspired by the 100 years anniversary of the start of the First World War and an event on Christmas Day that lead to a temporary truce in the battle.
This week’s video is a new song written by Chris Eaton and focussing on that same thought with proceeds going to the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund:
This Sunday is the first in Advent; on this day when we’ve seen scenes of people fighting to get their Black Friday bargains let us remind ourselves what this season is really about.
Advent is the season when we look forward to the coming of the Saviour King, not as a Conquering Warrior, not as a Great Politician, but as a baby.
Behold the star of Bethlehem The World of God has become flesh Unto us a child is born The Saviour of this broken world
Oh hear the angel voices Sing come let us adore Him Peace has come for our King is with us
Fully God and fully man He comes for all with open hands He rules with love on David’s throne All praise belongs to Christ alone
Twice a year, people from the Fulwood Free Methodist Church congregation share stories in Heart magazine.
These people live in your community. We want you to know what is happening near you. Going into any new place for the first time can be scary, but sometimes, when you dare to step over the threshold, you are surprised by something good. Readers of Heart come to Lunch Break, Parenting Support, Alpha – in fact, most things. You are all welcome!
Congratulations to Hattie, Ken and Brenda, who share their encouraging stories (p 2-3) that will definitely make us all smile!
Life can be tough
At times, life can be tough. They say ‘A trouble shared is a trouble halved,’ but Celebrate Recovery (see p 6-7) is about more than halving a problem; it offers on-going hope, support and practical changes for any man or woman who is battling with hurts, habits or hang-ups.
Two brilliant bookshops
Meet Nigel and Kath, (on page 10) whose son is working in Syria. They run two brilliant bookshops in Preston and Lancaster.
