TRANSFORMED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
During the spring of 2016 in both our morning and evening gatherings we will be looking at the Holy Spirit.
In the morning we will be considering who the Holy Spirit is and why He matters. We speak of God as our Father and Jesus as our Saviour, but to many Christians the Holy Spirit – the third person of the Trinity – is still a bit of a mystery! He always will be! However Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would indwell and transform us, and the New Testament shows the Spirit in action in amazing ways. In this six-message series we take a journey through the Bible to find out who He is, what He does and, most importantly, how he can revolutionise our daily lives.
In our evening gatherings we will be looking at the New Testament passages about the gifts God gives His church. Hospitality, healing, tongues and teachers – all gifts God gives and more! We pray you will be challenged to discover what God has given your and set free to serve Him in surprising, unexpected ways.
‘Transformed Life’ is a new venture for the Whole Church in 2016. Will you be part of it? Through studying the Book of Ephesians 1-3 we will look at answering 3 of life’s key questions: Who am I? Where do I belong? What am I living for? We will do this through Sunday Morning Talks, Action Steps, Memory Verses, Home Group Studies and Daily Devotional Readings. Our Children’s and Youth Programme will also be following the same series in Energize and Ignite and in Youth Home Groups.
We encourage you all to be part of Transformed Life and see what God can do in all of us.
FIVE HOT TOPICS – FIVE EVENINGS
We live in an ever-changing world which presents us each day with a host of moral and lifestyle choices. How do we live out our faith in a society where others are equally sure of theirs? How can we be distinctive without being weird? What about the occult? How do we live in a “material world” without getting lost in technology and the consumer society?
Join us for this 5 week Talks Series as we find answers in a book written over 2000 years ago!
COMING TO CHRIST
The Book of Acts describes the journeys of a number of people who came to follow Jesus Christ. The routes they travelled differed, but some common threads brought them each to a point where they had to make a decision whether to follow Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. God arranged for someone to be on hand to help each of them as the Holy Spirit worked in their lives. They each had a changed life as a result of the commitments they made to Jesus Christ.
In this series we look at some of the stories, and follow through those common threads, considering the tipping point of faith for the seeker, the help brought by the third party, the work of the Holy Spirit in bringing the whole thing together, and what happened afterwards.
We explore their stories from the standpoints of the seeker, the supporter, and the watching world.
FAITH UNDER PRESSURE
LETTERS TO A YOUNG CHURCH – 1 & 2 THESSALONIANS
St Paul was inspired by God to write two letters to the Christians in Thessalonica (modern day Thessaloniki). They had become believers when he visited them in about AD 50, but Paul had been forced to leave after only a short time. He was concerned about them and sent Timothy to see how they were doing.
These letters, written to new believers living in an antagonistic social climate, are here for us in the Bible in 2015. They contain truths and challenges that are just as relevant as ever.
What is God going to reveal to you?
Below you will find details of a talks series that we embarked on in the Summer of 2015.
YOUR KINGDOM COME – PRINCIPLES OF HIS KINGDOM
Jesus talks about building a kingdom, but what kind of a kingdom is it? In our morning series we’ll be looking at some of the parables and through them we’ll see some of the principles of the kingdom that Jesus is building.
CIRCUMSTANCES – THE PLACE OF CIRCUMSTANCES IN OUR LIFE
Evil things done to the helpless are always evil, but sometimes things happen to us which can be part of God’s plan for us. Some downplay their circumstances and live in an unreal world, others over-endorse them and use them as an excuse for whatever they want to do. How we react to the circumstances of our lives is crucial, and it defines our destiny.
Romans 8 tells us that God has a great plan for blessing us, and others through us. BUT God has to prepare us for what is to come – James 1:2-4 says we should count it all joy when problems come our way because God is equipping our character to be ready for anything as we fulfil our destiny.
In this series we see how some Biblical characters worked through some challenging periods of their lives which forged them to be the men and women God could use and what we can learn from them.
Christians are commissioned to make a difference where they are now, not where they would like to be. The good news according to ‘us’ is what most people will read. We are always on the frontline and the front page. We live out our identity as God’s children in ordinary life as well as in the special events, the good times and the bad. How we live is front page news to someone seeking God.
Our morning series looks at front line living, facing some of today’s big issues with the sure-footed serenity and character outlined in Galatians 5, which comes from the Holy Spirit. We look at some of the works of the Holy Spirit to enable us to live attractive lives even in a complex and messy world which are compelling statements of the changes that Christ can make in us.
Being a Christian is much more than simply being able to recite a Creed.
God brings together a whole kaleidoscope of different people across the world to be “His Church”. We see in the Bible the core beliefs that unite us, and discover how we can share them with a world looking for meaning and truth.
Our Evening Series focusses on:
What we Believe – Why we believe it
So that we can share our beliefs in a way that is gentle and respectful, yet thought provoking and effective.
“Worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it, but do this in a gentle and respectful way…..”
1 Peter 3 v 15
LIVING A GREAT LIFE
Positive Living in a Negative World
Swimming against the tide is not easy. We live in a world which challenges how we live as Christians. Do we live by “do’s” and “don’ts” or can we live a great life by taking hold of how God longs for us to live?
“I came so you can have real and eternal life, more and better life than you ever dreamed of!” John 10:10 (Message)
Our Autumn morning series looks at the Book of Proverbs which is a treasury of wisdom and tips for living a great life.
