Over here on the The Lightfoot Lane Blog and also on the Sunday Talks Podcasts we’ve gone Facebook Connected.
What this means is that, if you are a Facebook user, you can use a couple of new features on both of the sites.

At the bottom of each blog or podcast you’ll see a button a bit like the one above. You can then click on the “Like” button.
Once you’ve clicked “Like” the button will change to show your Facebook profile picture and say that you’ve liked it.

It will also write something to your Facebook wall saying what you’ve liked, a bit like this:

You can also comment on a blog or podcast as a Facebook user by clicking on the “Leave a comment” link at the end:

You’ll then see a “Connect with Facebook” button:

The first time you click it you’ll be asked about allowing the connection to your Facebook account. Once you’re connected you can then add a comment and it will show that it’s come from you on Facebook:

You can also choose (via the little button at the bottom) to copy your comments to your Facebook wall.
Of course, if you’re not a Facebook user you can still leave a comment in the usual way. Give it a go and let us know how you get on.

This Sunday’s evening service was our 400th podcast.
It’s only fitting that Andrew Gardner should be speaking number 400 as he’s contributed over 140 of the 400 which is over a third of all of the talks.
In that time we’ve had over 52 different preachers; some just the once; some contributing on a regular basis.
For most people 30 minutes of talking requires at least 3 hours of preparation. That means that the 200 hours of speaking have been as a result of over 1200 hours of preparing – or 50 days 24 hours a day none stop. That’s a lot of preparation for which we would like to say – thank you.
We started the podcasts back in 2006 and we now see over 10 GBytes of data downloaded from the site every month, or for those of you who like things in more tangible terms that’s enough to fill over 14 CD’s.
(If you are wondering why you can’t find 400 podcasts on the site – it’s because in the early days we would delete older podcasts, but we’d keep the statistics. It’s the statistics that are telling us we have got to 400)

We’ve changed the layout of both the blog and podcast sites – you probably noticed.
A few things have moved around but the content should all be the same. There are also a few new features, but nothing dramatic and everything should still work the same as it worked before.
One of the main changes has been to make the links to iTunes a bit clearer on the podcasts site. Somewhere along the line we had lost the direct link to iTunes on the site and as this is the preferred method for downloading the podcasts for many people it was important that it came back.
There are still some other minor things that we’d like to do, but we’ll get around to them at some point.
We’d really like to know what you think, and especially if you see any problems with the new layout.

This year the speak at the Capernwray Men’s weekend was our very own Andrew Gardner. Andrew took the opportunity to look at “Being Men”.
The talks from these sessions are now available on the podcast:

We’ve had a bit of a break in the podcasts over the last few weeks.
All of the delayed podcasts have now been added.
There are some great messages that deserve a listen.
Personally, I’m still in catch-up mode, but having listened to it I think that Andrew Gardner’s message on “What if I can’t forgive” is one that everyone should make a special effort to listen to.

There will be a slow down in the time taken to get the podcasts available over the next few weeks.
The mice who currently perform this task for us will be taking a well deserved break. Everything will be available once they return from their time by the sea.
