We’ve had a great Alpha Course this term, but perhaps you’re not aware of how big Alpha is, and how God is using it across the world, not just in Preston.
The following video shows some amazing highlights from 2012, and we’ve not even got to the end of the year yet. My hope is that it will inspire you to pray and to invite someone along to join the conversation in 2013:

Much of my own music collection is made up of men with guitars. I’m not about to apologise for that, or even to declare some form of superiority from it. It’s what I like and hence what I buy.
One of the collection of guitar bands are the Dave Crowder Band and this video is one of my favourites songs, but also one of my favourite videos.
One of the things that stands out for me are the lyrics, here’s a sample:
I can’t comprehend your infinitely beautiful and perfect love
Oh I’ve dreamed dreams of majesty as brilliant as a billion stars
But they’re never bright enough after all
You are Holy
Oh Holy
Holy, Holy, Holy
Enjoy:

One of the ministries that we run at Fulwood Free Methodist Church is Celebrate Recovery which is there to help people find freedom from their hurts, hang-ups and habits.
Celebrate Recovery is for everyone whether you would call yourself a Christian or not. As I move about my day-to-day life I see so many people who would benefit from attending, but that’s quite a big step for people to take. Next year there will be a whole new way of getting the word out – a movie.
We’re not yet sure how distribution is going to work in the UK but we’re hoping to be able to show it in Preston probably in partnership with the other Preston churches that run Celebrate Recovery.
Here’s the trailer for Home Run:

Why Jesus Christ is Worth a Try

I thought I’d return to another music video this week. This song, along with the rest of the album, has been played endlessly in our house, in the car, on my iPod.
Find out more about Josh Garrels here, connect with him on Facebook or twitter also.
“White Owl” by Josh Garrels
You’re likely to see more from Josh in coming weeks because he’s recently been posting videos from a new documentary (I promise not to overdo it
).

There are some hymns that have become so engrained in our culture that we would struggle to say when we first heard it or first sang it.
One such hymn is What a Friend We Have in Jesus.
These hymns become so well known that we forget that there is a story behind them; they were written by someone, at a time and in a place. The story isn’t always an easy one, but meaningful words often come out of difficult places as is the case with this hymn:
The story behind the hymn, What a Friend We Have in Jesus
