Actions speak louder than words. People won’t believe us when we talk about Christ’s good news if our lives don’t match all we say. The way we live our everyday life matters.

Ian Clarkson continues our Welcome Stranger series by looking at Agabus who can be found in Acts 11:27-30 and Acts 21:10-12
Very likely an Elder in the Jerusalem Church, he is recorded in two incidents, both of which occurred outside Jerusalem – the first in Antioch and the second in Caesarea by the Sea. An early church prophet who bought the first prophetic prediction in Acts of famine (which subsequently happened) but on his say so, a huge collection was made. The second prophecy was 15 years later concerning Paul’s death, which everyone accepted as true. A man who used his Spiritual Gifts with evident credibility which built the trust of the church. How does our credibility bear up?

WELCOME STRANGER | Priscilla and Aquila | Acts 18:1-3, 18-28 | Andrew Gardner
Andrew Gardner begins our Welcome Stranger series by looking at Priscilla and Aquila who can be found in Acts 18:1-3 and Acts 18:18-28.
Aquila and Priscilla met Paul in Corinth after they had fled Rome in Claudius’s persecution of the Jews, and were earning their living as tent-makers. They found Christ and a year and a half later Paul took them with him to Ephesus where the Church was established in their home. They mentored Apollos and supported Timothy when he became pastor. We consider the dynamics of this active Christian couple where, unusually for the time, Priscilla is often mentioned first, indicating her strong role in the couple’s witness and ministry behind the scenes.

LIVING FREE | Do you want to Break Free? | Galatians 4:21-5:6 | Dave Ginns
Dave Ginns continues our Freedom series looking at Galatians 4:21-5:6.
How can we ‘live free’ if we are emotionally ‘tied’ to our past problems? We look at what Galatians 5 says about being strong in our faith, so we don’t let the past enslave us or drag us back. We no longer need a list of rules to control our behaviour. We have the love of Christ and the Holy Spirit to live by. This is freedom.
