About Professor Robert Walsh
Professor Robert Walsh is Academic Lead of UCLan Space and has been at the forefront of solar physics research for over 20 years. His career highlights include:

  • Working closely with NASA on multiple space missions.
  • Recipient of the Royal Astronomical Society Annie Maunder Medal 2021 for outstanding public engagement.
  • Awarded the title “Scientist for the New Century” by the Royal Institution of Great Britain.
  • Principal investigator on NASA programmes Hi-C and MaGIXS.
  • Author of 46 peer-reviewed papers, including in Nature and Science.

Passionate about sharing his work, Professor Walsh has delivered over 70 public talks worldwide and is a champion for inspiring young people in science.
