Christians Against Poverty (CAP)

CAP_Debt_Help_logo_green - screen versionChristians Against Poverty is a national debt counselling charity with a network of debt centres based in local churches. CAP offers hope and a solution to people in debt through its top quality, in-depth service.

FFMC has partnered with CAP to offer debt counselling in our community.

The service we offer is completely free.

Call 0800 328 0006 to book an appointment with the team at FFMC.

Visit www.capdebthelp.org to find out more about our services.

CAP’s service: an overview

Fact finding

Your local CAP representative will visit you in your home. They will introduce the service and ask you about your income, bills and debts. This information will be used to create a budget for you.

Additional visits: explaining the budget

Your local CAP representative will need to visit you again to explain how you will need to stick to the budget to get out of debt.

Continuous support

The next step is for CAP to contact your secondary creditors, such as credit card and loan companies. CAP will support you until you become debt free and all we ask you to do is to work positively with us through this process.

The CAP Money Course

The CAP Money Course is a free course to help people manage their money better and learn to budget, save and spend well.

The CAP Money Course features DVD presentations by John Kirkby, the Founder and International Director of CAP. CAP trains volunteers from local churches to be CAP Money Coaches, who will then work through individual budgets with delegates.

Home Groups

Homegroups are what some churches call House Groups or Cell Groups. Some meet on a weekly basis, others fortnightly.

We believe that Homegroups are a vital aspect of church life where we can build deeper relationships with each other.  Homegroups enable us to be part of a more intimate community where we can support, encourage and pray for one another.  They also provide opportunities where we can learn and serve together.

Our Homegroups meet at various times and on various days, some weekly and some fortnightly.

Prayer Tuesdays
Tuesday – 7:00pm, 12:00pm and 7:30pm

Tuesday is prayer day at Fulwood Free Methodist Church.

We have three different opportunities for you to join with us in prayer: 7:00am, 12:00pm and 7:30pm

Jesus had a lot to say about prayer:

One day he was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said, “Master, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples.”

So he said,
“When you pray, say, Father, reveal who you are.
Set the world right.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.”

Then he said, “Imagine what would happen if you went to a friend in the middle of the night and said, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread. An old friend travelling through just showed up, and I don’t have a thing on hand.’
“The friend answers from his bed, ‘Don’t bother me. The door’s locked; my children are all down for the night; I can’t get up to give you anything.’

“But let me tell you, even if he won’t get up because he’s a friend, if you stand your ground, knocking and waking all the neighbours, he’ll finally get up and get you whatever you need.
“Here’s what I’m saying:
Ask and you’ll get;
Seek and you’ll find;
Knock and the door will open.

“Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This is not a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. If your little boy asks for a serving of fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? If your little girl asks for an egg, do you trick her with a spider? As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing—you’re at least decent to your own children. And don’t you think the Father who conceived you in love will give the Holy Spirit when you ask him?”
Luke 11 (The Message)

RISE Ladies
Scheduled – see Special Events Page for upcoming RISE events

Our vision for RISE Ladies is to be passionate about strengthening relationships across the church and being united in Jesus in order to make a difference in our world.

Our passion for RISE is to gather together women of all ages and in all seasons of life so that collectively we will be empowered to use our God-given skills, talents and opportunities. Our hope is that each woman should feel safe and encouraged to discover and grow in their spiritual gifts at all RISE events, and to build and deepen friendships with other women in church, but to always be outward looking to share our hope in Christ with others in our lives.

RISE has focused and inspiring teaching on challenging subjects from a wide range of speakers. We want to take every opportunity as women to pursue greater freedom and to become more Christ-like in whatever area of life or society we live and work.

We’d love to see you at RISE events, which are six times a year. Each term there’ll be a church based event which will be a more relaxed version of church where you’ll be able to get to know other women in church in a more social way, along with really great, high quality speakers who’ll speak on issues which impact women’s lives but also to challenge and support us to live a life which reflects God, whatever situation we are in.

These events are designed for you to bring your non church friends too – don’t just come for a great night with other women from church but ask a friend to come to!

There will also be three social evenings a year from a meal out to salsa events, pottery evenings or film nights, some of which will be designed for you to bring your younger daughters too so we really will have all ages there!

We have a RISE Facebook page if you want to find out the latest happenings – hope to see you at RISE soon!

Men's Breakfast

The Men’s breakfast is an opportunity for men to get together over a full English breakfast and to hear a relevant talk.
